We like to eat healthy meals that everyone can enjoy. When dementia is in the house, I also plan for visual appeal and easy-to-navigate food. Not everybody can figure out what to do with 3 pieces of silverware, so often a meal must be fork-friendly only. Using the right plates, good colors, and simple place settings can cut down on mealtime confusion and improve the chances that most of the meal will be consumed.
I plan menus a week in advance and shop for ingredients based on those plans. The pantry is also stocked with basics, and my cookbooks are always in use!
